Who we’re looking for
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Alliances Lead, to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role will lead engagement with key global organizations, including as point for senior leadership participation in marquis events.
You will be working closely with Topsoe’s Power-to-X and Global Commercial businesses, Sustainability, and Communications groups and with our Public Affairs colleagues to leverage partnerships in support of our mission, the decarbonization of heavy industry and long-distance transport. You will also be responsible for managing our engagement with relevant international organizations, working with Topsoe’s Senior Leadership Team and with colleagues across the company. The ideal candidate will have a broad existing network in the global clean energy space and experience in policy advocacy. You will have strong interpersonal skills and experience with stakeholder management at the global level, and a passion for sustainability. Thorough understanding of international organizations and policy discussions in the energy transition space will be an advantage.
This role be based in Topsoe’s Global Public Affairs function reporting directly to the Chief Sustainability & Public Affairs Officer, and will work closely with Topsoe’s business units and communications function to:
- Manage Topsoe’s memberships in global alliances and initiatives, notably the World Economic Forum and the Hydrogen Council. This requires coordinating with colleagues across the organization to facilitate Topsoe’s contribution to relevant workstreams and enabling members of the Senior Leadership Team to engage effectively. It also involves regular mapping, monitoring and evaluating of existing and emerging partnerships to ensure Topsoe is present in the most effective fora.
- Secure speaking opportunities, coordinate logistics, and prepare briefings for senior executive presence at key global policy-related events, e.g., World Hydrogen Week, the Clean Energy Ministerial, and COP.
- Drive strategy and advocacy on critical global policy issues and proactively identify opportunities and challenges for the company in key areas, e.g., clean hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuel, and carbon capture technologies
- Track, analyze, and report on global policy developments that impact company priorities
- Build Topsoe brand awareness with global organizations and strengthen critical relationships with global stakeholders
- Help to create and communicate an integrated public affairs strategy to pave the way for business success and growth in key global markets
- Other day-to-day duties as required
What you’ll bring
- Experience in public affairs, including stakeholder management and agenda setting at global level, with preference for knowledge of and experience in the energy sector
- Experience and thorough understanding of global policy engagement and advocacy
- Experience coordinating logistics for senior executives in global settings
- Political experience and acumen
- The ability to articulately and effectively communicate and advocate, both orally and in writing, company policies and positions to a variety of audiences to advance company views and objectives
- Expertise in energy policy, preferably in US and/or EU
- Ability to develop, coordinate, and execute advocacy activities, such as global policy campaigns
- Ability to work flexible hours, and able to manage completing deadlines and prioritizing work objectives in area of expertise with moderate supervision
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to lead complex initiatives
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university with coursework in related disciplines such as energy policy or political science preferred. Master’s degree in a relevant field such as political science, law or business highly preferred
- Minimum 8 years of relevant job experience
