Kgs. Lyngby, DK
Student Assistant, Compliance, Global Legal Affairs
The role and impact
From the Lyngby global headquarters, the Compliance function drives Topsoe’s efforts worldwide to operate with integrity and in keeping with the principles of Topsoe’s Code of Conduct. Specifically, we secure that Topsoe remains compliant with applicable laws regarding trade sanctions, anti-corruption, and whistleblower protection, and stays true to our Code of Conduct. As our new Student Assistant, you will be an integral part of these efforts.
As a trusted Compliance team member, you will gain the rare opportunity to develop deep experience in professional disciplines like counterparty due diligence, compliance risk assessments and mitigations, behavior monitoring and nudging, awareness-raising around policies and procedures, and other core Compliance skills. In that way, you’ll play a small part in Topsoe’s delivery of solutions that help the world transition to clean energy sources, while at the same time learning very marketable professional skills and building a great network for your future career—perhaps in Compliance.
What you’ll bring
You are a university student who wants to learn about Compliance as a professional discipline, and you’re willing and able to work 15-20 hours per week. You are probably well into your Bachelor’s degree or starting on your Master’s, and studying any subject under the sun: Political Science, Law, International Business, Social Data Science, or something completely different. Beyond this, you might describe yourself as curious, dedicated, disciplined, and even courageous. You are a team player with a can-do mindset, and you’re also a bit of a detective: hands-on, analytical, systematic, an eye for detail, and a never-quit attitude. You like adapting pre-defined rules and structures to fit specific scenarios as they arise—or alternatively, you are eager to acquire these skills. You can see yourself interacting well with stakeholders from various cultures and levels of seniority. You are good at expressing yourself in words, and you have a solid command of spoken and written English. Finally, you can find your way around a Microsoft Office package and ideally have some versatility in Excel and/or generative AI.

Your new team
The Compliance function, part of Global Legal Affairs, is a tight-knit, dynamic team of three senior professionals and a Student Assistant. You will interact with our Senior Compliance Officers daily and receive regular sparring directly from our Director, Chief Compliance Officer.
Beyond our team, you will build an impressive network among other Topsoe functions, having regular interactions with colleagues around the world in Topsoe’s Commercial, Power-to-X, Global Supply, Sustainability & External Affairs, Finance, and other functions. You will also be a part of good collegial collaboration within the wider Global Legal Affairs department, which includes lawyers and IP attorneys across three continents, as well as other Student Assistants here in Lyngby.
You will be trained by our current Student Assistant and thereafter entrusted to work independently and with significant front-line responsibilities. You’ll have reasonable scope to form your own workdays within agreed frameworks, including the possibility to work from home as appropriate. All of this will take place in an informal, varied office atmosphere where we challenge each other, learn new things, and still have fun and laughs together.
