Who we’re looking for
We are seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs Specialist to join our dynamic public affairs team in Topsoe Headquarters in Lyngby, Denmark. This role will focus on positioning Topsoe in regions such as Asia, Middle East and Africa to drive the fuel transition and secure business enabling framework conditions. You will be developing comprehensive understandings of political strategies and incentives that can drive Topsoe’s business as well as strengthen our government relations in these regions.

 

You will be working closely with Topsoe’s Power-to-X and Global Commercial businesses as well with our colleagues abroad to leverage our understanding of policy drivers and build relations in regions such as Asia, Middle East and Africa. You will have to travel with colleagues from our commercial organization to fulfill this role.   

 

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and experience with public affairs and stakeholder management in third countries and a keen appetite for translating commercial priorities into policy objectives. An understanding of public affairs management in Asia, Middle East or Africa and/or the energy transition will be considered a big plus.  

 

This role will report to the Head of Government Strategic Affairs, Therese Bording Hermann and the competencies required to successfully carry out these tasks would include:

  1. Cross-cultural and diplomatic skills to build and maintain strong relationships with key government officials, state-owned enterprises, and influential stakeholders in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, leveraging political and cultural understanding.
  2. Strong analytic skills to navigate political landscapes, analyse trends and government priorities, and negotiate effectively to align business interests with regulatory frameworks and local policies.
  3. Collaboration and Communication skills to work closely with Topsoe´s commercial teams, aligning strategies with business objectives, and communicate complex political and regulatory matters to ensure understanding and support for Topsoe’s solutions.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in public affairs, including stakeholder management and agenda setting with preference for knowledge of and experience in the energy sector
  • Proven ability to collaborate and manage stakeholders across different teams internally and multiple branch organizations and alliances externally
  • Strong analytical mindset and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills especially in English, including the ability to synthesize complex topics into clear and simple messages for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to lead complex initiatives
  • Master’s degree in relevant field such as political science, law, or business 
  • Experience from working with public affairs in third countries and/or within the energy transition is considered a big plus.
