Procurement Manager

 

The role and impact

As Procurement Manager at Topsoe, you will lead a dynamic team of Senior Lead Buyers, playing a crucial role in positioning our Project Procurement function as a dedicated and professional business partner. Your expertise in managing commercial technology projects, risk management, negotiation, contracting, and supplier development will be essential for ensuring that procurement deliverables are met on time and within budget.

 

In this role, you will also focus on achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) for both Global and Project Procurement. Additionally, you will drive digitalization initiatives aimed at minimizing transactional tasks and promoting a proactive approach among employees and stakeholders.

 

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Developing employees through daily coaching as well as through planned training activities to meet future needs. This includes ensuring that team members are trained in all relevant Global and Project Procurement tools, processes and systems
  • Ensuring that team members understand and support Global and Project Procurement mission and KPI’s
  • Ensuring results on total cost perspectives on projects in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Supporting Lead Buyers in Negotiation and Contracting on commercial technology projects
  • Managing the tactical and operational procurement process and support implementation of category management initiatives
  • Ensuring that risks and cost, when placing orders, are evaluated in close collaboration with the relevant department and signed as per rules of signing authorities.

Here are the key skills and qualifications we're looking for:

  • Master’s degree (e.g., Cand. Merc.) or Bachelor’s degree (e.g., HD in Logistics / Supply Chain Management) or equivalent experience
  • Leadership and project management experience (at least 3-5 years) in a regional/international setting
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement and global sourcing
  • High people management skills and contract management skills
  • Have proven qualifications and experience in driving cross-functional projects and herein getting the message and results through
  • Excellence in commercial/financial understanding and contract negotiation
  • Know what value procurement can add to stakeholders and can easily explain it
  • Have a solid knowledge of supplier market for complex technical categories.

Your new team
The Project Procurement Technology team is made up of 6 Category Managers and 9 Senior Lead Buyers, all based in Denmark. Global Procurement operates as a centralized function with 60 dedicated employees, playing a vital role in realizing Topsoe’s vision and driving the transformation of our company. Our main procurement focusses areas include Raw Materials Procurement, Project Procurement for technology and EPCM projects, and Indirect Procurement. These departments benefit from the direct support of Procurement Excellence and Scouting Managers.

 

Global Procurement is responsible for initiating, governing, and implementing efficient and effective procurement activities across Topsoe. We prioritize continuous improvement in our cost structure, ensuring we have the right and sufficient suppliers, while also adding value for our stakeholders. This approach allows us to free up resources for exciting and significant growth opportunities within our company.
