Who we’re looking for
We are looking for an Environmental Sustainability Specialist to position Topsoe as a leader within environmental sustainability - beyond the climate agenda. You will be responsible for helping set the strategic direction for environmental sustainability for the company through close collaboration with key internal stakeholders such as finance, HSSEQ, our production sites and the commercial organization. Key topics will be climate change (and decarbonization), energy efficiency, circular economy, and biodiversity – but also more externally directed areas such as commercial sustainability and reporting.

 

You will help translate strategy and implement it throughout the organization - providing guidance and training to ensure implementation in the organization. We are looking for a strong leader who can lead cross functional and business teams, run large scale projects and coordinate inputs from many parts of the organization.

 

You will join Global Sustainability - a small, specialized team of five people, in the Global Sustainability and External Affairs unit. Our team is an integrated part of the organization setting direction and driving sustainability in close collaboration with internal stakeholders. We are based in our headquarters in Lyngby (Ravnholm), Denmark.


Your responsibilities:

  • Further develop a cohesive environmental sustainability strategy addressing material topics (aligned with CSRD/CSDDD) - in close collaboration with key internal stakeholders
  • Lead implementation of the environmental sustainability strategy as agreed with the Senior Leadership Team
  • Guide, train, and enable key stakeholders in the organization – implementing and bringing our environmental sustainability strategy and goals to life in operations, and with our customers and business relationship
  • Help drive the Net Zero Working group and refine roadmaps and projects, while supporting the organization in implementation
  • Ensure that we mature and drive initiatives on circular economy and biodiversity in a way that is meaningful and impactful
  • Help leveraging our sustainability value proposition in the marketplace and society at large, using scientific and evidence-based claims
  • Work with commercial team to create a place for sustainability in our end-to-end commercial offerings from bids & proposal stage to the sale of products and services
  • Work closely with finance, communications, HSSEQ to contribute to the annual report
  • Provide input to reporting platforms such as CDP and EcoVadis
  • Stay up to date with external developments such as new standards within for circular economy, GHG accounting, science-based targets, and evolving environmental and climate related policies, regulations, and trends.

Qualifications:

  • You hold a relevant academic degree such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree (preferred) in engineering or business. 
  • It is desirable to have at least 5 years relevant experience from the private sector or consultancy.
  • Expertise with topics such as climate change, decarbonization, SBTi, energy efficiency, circular economy, and biodiversity – and sustainability reporting (e.g. CDP, EcoVadis, CSRD/CSDDD).
  • Preferably experience with project management, strategy development and execution, and indirect leadership. 
  • Basic understanding of life cycle thinking and -management.
  • Experience from the chemical or manufacturing industry would be advantageous.
  • Fluency in English – both oral and written.
