The Mechanical Engineer position in Topsoe’s Hardware Technology team assists with the sale, service and installation of Topsoe hardware projects for downstream and new energy applications in North and South America, primarily in the U.S. The successful candidate is solution-oriented with strong stakeholder management skills and a steadfast commitment to safety and business standards. The candidate must be comfortable with on-site work in petrochemical facilities including entering vertical vessels, which involves working in confined spaces and at height. This role reJOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:quires approximately 25% travel annually. Additional travel may be required until the employee is fully trained.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure adherence to Topsoe's safety standards during project execution.
- Advise clients during the construction or turnaround phase of hardware projects, overseeing installation tasks and making critical onsite decisions.
- Role is client facing. Foster client relationships to facilitate timely and satisfactory delivery of hardware projects.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and vendors to address project design and scheduling challenges.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) to uphold Topsoe's commitment to quality and innovation.
- Engineer, design, and review 3D models of proprietary hardware.
- Perform mechanical calculations to support project requirements.
- Organize and conduct shop inspections to verify fabrication accuracy and adherence to design tolerances.
- Support group manager with project tracking, SAP entry, commercial proposals, and planning.
- Utilize 3D printer for prototyping and creating marketing materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Some travel for technical sales support and further training possible.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
- Positive and personable attitude.
- Ability to travel approximately 25%.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
- Ability to work with clients and co-workers in the field, with good onsite communication, problem solving, and troubleshooting.
- Strong computer skills.
- Active TWIC card or have the ability to obtain one.
- Must be able to climb ladder.
- Must be comfortable in confined spaces and at heights.
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for the given work task.
Preferred:
- One (1) + years of experience.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor and 3D modeling.
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience with Salesforce.
