Who we’re looking for
We’re seeking an Account Manager with experience in the refining industry to join our Global Commercial team. This role involves managing existing accounts and developing new prospects within the North American region, focusing on catalysis and decarbonization technologies to produce environmentally friendly clean fuels.

As a member of our team, you will develop and execute account plans that align with customers' goals and objectives, positioning Topsoe as a strategic partner. You will also provide associated catalyst technical services. You'll monitor and report on market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activities, and negotiate contracts and agreements in collaboration with technical and commercial teams to provide solutions and support to customers.

Key responsibilities and tasks:

  • Identify, pursue, and secure relevant catalyst and technology opportunities with a strategic approach tailored to each opportunity.
  • Develop professional relationships within the assigned customer base at multiple levels within each organization (e.g. unit engineers, technical managers, subject matter experts, plant managers, procurement).
  • Conduct meaningful, value-added visits at assigned client locations at a frequency that is commensurate with Topsoe’s current and/or potential business opportunities with the client.
  • Collaborate effectively with the technical sales & service team to develop compelling technical & commercial proposals and to provide industry leading technical service after the catalyst sale (e.g., loadings, start-ups, unit performance evaluations, unit troubleshooting, spent catalyst evaluations).
  • Provide timely follow-up to all client inquiries.
  • Develop a keen understanding of the assigned customer base and associated market to provide insight into budgeting & planning efforts, competitive intelligence, and evolving market trends.
  • Timely performance of administrative tasks such as updates to quotations, client information in the CRM database, issuing technical reports & visit reports, and expense report submittals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Conduct all job requirements in a professional and safe manner.

What you’ll bring
We are looking for a team player who thrives in cross-cultural contexts and has a proactive, can-do attitude. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the refining industry, with a solid understanding of catalytic processes and energy transition.
  • A proven track record of complex sales and account management with the ability to create value and grow the business profitably.
  • A strong drive for success while maintaining honesty, integrity, and credibility in your approach.
  • Effective communication (both written and verbal) and excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop long-term relationships with customers and stakeholders at multiple levels – both externally & internally.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently in an organized manner.
  • A proactive and positive attitude, with a willingness to continuously learn and adapt to a dynamic market.
  • A high level of commitment to the company’s values, policies, objectives, and goals.
  • Permanent residence in the greater Houston area.
  • Ability to travel domestically approximately 25-30% of the time.
